Frequently asked Questions:

What is the difference between a haircut and a trim, and is dry cutting a less expensive option?

There is no difference between a trim and a haircut. When your stylist asks if you need a haircut with your color, some clients will say, “I just need a trim” thinking it will be less expensive. A cut that takes off one quarter of an inch takes just as long as a cut that removes many inches. We may take a different approach to cutting by dry cutting before the shampoo. Dry cutting allows us to see the individual growth patterns of the hair, resulting in a cut designed just for you. We will provide you with that relaxing shampoo afterwards.

How long will my color last?

If you use recommended products specifically designed for colored hair, your color should last 4-8 weeks. That is a big range, but it has to do with your tolerance for fading, how often you wash your hair, how hot the water is, and how much time you spend in the sun. Hard water is also a big culprit of fading. If you use inexpensive shampoos with detergents, your hair color will not last long. An inexpensive, non-color-safe shampoo can strip some reds in a single wash. We are not telling you this to get you to buy our products— it’s simply to educate and help you get your money’s worth for your service.

What is corrective color?

We provide exceptional color correction services that will help you get to your desired result, all while maintaining the health of your hair. Please note, if you have dark, previously colored hair and wish to go blonde, this will NOT happen in one visit. It will almost always take multiple visits and will be considered corrective color. Trust our team to collaborate, if needed, to get you to your hair goals. But you must trust the process. You will need a stylist who is going to be completely honest about the results you can expect—check out the Staff Bios to learn more about our stylists’ specialties.

What are the differences between all of the terms for highlighting?

Balayage, teasie lights, baby lights, ombré… there are many terms to describe your desired result. We love when you come in with inspiration pics. Trust us to provide you with the right technique to fit your lifestyle, preferred maintenance schedule, and cost of upkeep.

Why is there a price range for color?

There are many variables that affect our cost to provide coloring services. Longer, thicker hair takes more time, product, foils—just more of everything. Product is the most expensive part of the service. If you see your stylist mixing up more and more bowls of color, please be aware this may add to your final cost. We also believe in maintaining the health of your hair by using bonding protectors on your hair, which can be costly to us but are very beneficial for the hair.
If you want to be fully informed of what the final cost may be, please request a quote from your stylist before they begin. You, and your stylist can discuss other options to fit your budget and lifestyle. We believe a fully informed client will always be a happy client.

Why do stylists charge different prices for their services?

A stylist’s price is based on a combination of their industry experience and the continuing education they have received. Feel free to request a stylist in a price range you are comfortable with. Less expensive does not mean you will not receive a great service. All of our stylists work as a team; if a newer stylist needs to rely on a veteran stylist for advice, one is always there, since 80% of our staff are veteran hairstylists.

What if I am late to my appointment?

We can usually make it work, however, if you are more than fifteen minutes late, you may be asked to give up some services to save on time (i.e., a blow-dry, a cut after your color service, etc.) or you can reschedule. The stylists are scheduled back-to-back, which can mean if they start one client late, they will run late all day. We will attempt to accommodate late clients, but sometimes it is out of our hands. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand things happen in life, but we are relying on you and your appointment to feed our families, pay our bills, etc. This is money out of our paychecks. Hence, we appreciate a 24-hour cancellation notice, so we may fill your spot with someone from our cancellation list.
That being said, our cancellation policy is as follows:
First no-show appointment or less than 24 hours’ notice is on us—we understand life happens sometimes.
Second no-show appointment or less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be asked to pay 50% of the service cost of the service you missed before being able to reschedule.
***Stylists reserve the right to ask for a 50-100% deposit when scheduling repeat
offenders.

What is the return policy on products?

Just bring the unused product in with you during your next appointment and we will gladly do a refund or exchange.

What should I do if I'm not happy?

Please let us know! We really strive to make our clients happy and meet their expectations. When someone isn't happy, we will do what it takes to make the situation better. We will not be confrontational or make you feel bad about how you feel; in most cases there wouldn't be a charge to make it right.
On the other hand, if you say you love it and that we met your expectations and your inspiration pic, and you go home to a partner, a parent, whatever the case may be, that says they hate the choice you made, there will be a charge to make the change.
We do ask that you attempt to resolve the situation between you and your stylist, since all of our staff are self-employed. However, the Manager or Owner are always available as well.

Where should I park?

There is paid parking right out front on both sides of the street. There is a pay kiosk next to our driveway, or you can download the Passport Parking app. These paid spots are $0.40 an hour and free after 5:00 pm. You may pay with change, a credit card, or the Passport app. You must know your license plate number to register on the kiosk or app, so we suggest taking a picture of it on your phone for easy reference. All of the nearby lots are permit only. There is FREE parking on Maple street, about half a block south of us.

Will you remind me of my appointment?

We offer text or email reminders... or both! You will get a reminder at the time of booking, 72 hours in advance, and 24 hours in advance. Our front desk is happy to customize your reminder preferences.

My stylist is booked up... what should I do?

Our front desk will be happy to put you on our cancellation list—the stylists check this often and may be able to fit you in when there’s a cancellation. However, they may also recommend another talented stylist if you are in need right away and your regular stylist can't fit you in.

Do you do Bridal Parties?

We only have a few stylists who do bridal hair, so our availability is limited. Some of our stylists will also travel to do your hair and meet your wedding day needs. We recommend calling at least 6-8 months in advance to see what our availability is.
